Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into an agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc. to study and identify potential savings and operational business improvement opportunities for the City of Milwaukee, specific to traffic signal retrofits, city-wide.
Body
Whereas, Traffic control signals indications utilizing light emitting diode technology and hardware improvements which permit longer service life have been recently introduced;  and
 
Whereas, There is no financial cost to the City of Milwaukee for this study by Johnson Controls, Inc.; and
 
Whereas, There may be the potential for a substantial portion to all of the retrofit work proposed by the retrofit aspect of this study to be contracted out to private electrical contractors; and, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and directed to enter into agreement with Johnson Controls, Inc. to study the potential savings and operational business improvement opportunities for the City of Milwaukee, specific to traffic signal retrofits using light emitting diode technology.
