Analysis
This resolution authorizes the acceptance of contributions for designated City of Milwaukee programs, events, and volunteer efforts, establishing their eligibility for public support in compliance with the City’s Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances authorizes the acceptance of contributions for City programs and events that serve a specified municipal purpose; and

Whereas, Events such as Peace Week, City Employee Recognition Awards (CERA), Mothers of Milwaukee Summit (MOMS), Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit, State of the City Address, and the City Christmas Tree Lighting, meet the criteria for eligibility for contributions; and

Whereas, The Mayor’s Office receives contributions through SupportMKE; and

Whereas, These events and volunteer efforts may be designated to receive contributions in support of their continued success and alignment with the City’s goals of equity, community engagement, and public service; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council File Number 250855 is rescinded; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Mayor’s Office is authorized to accept contributions for Peace Week, City Employee Recognition Awards, Mothers of Milwaukee Summit, Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit, State of the City Address, and the City Christmas Tree Lighting, in accordance with Chapter 304-24; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the contributions received shall be deposited with the City Treasury, and the City Comptroller is authorized to establish appropriate, trackable accounts for the funds to ensure proper expenditure and reporting; and, be it
