This ordinance provides that, whenever the city is seeking offers to purchase a surplus, city-owned property acquired through the in rem tax foreclosure procedure, and whenever the common council member in whose district such property is located chooses to notify neighborhood residents of such bid solicitation, notices shall be mailed to all residents of a circular area centered on the property and having a radius of not less than 500 feet nor more than one-quarter mile, rather than to all residents of a circular area having a radius of one- quarter mile, as currently required.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 304-49-6-a-1 of the code is amended to read:
304-49. Disposal of City Real Estate Property.
6. SOLICITATION OF BIDS.
a-1. The real estate officer shall prepare a notice which may be mailed to each resident of the >>circular<< area [[within a one-quarter-mile radius of]] >>having a radius of not less than 500 feet nor more than one-quarter mile, centered on<< the property>>,<< by the common council member in whose district the property is located informing the resident that the city is soliciting offers to purchase the property. Such notice shall state that if the resident is interested in purchasing the property, the resident should submit an offer to the real estate officer, through a broker, as provided in sub. 11, by 10:00 a.m. on the 30th day after the date of notice. If the 30th day falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline for submitting an offer shall be the next business day.
