This ordinance abolishes a pilot program which established uniform central business district weekday parking meter hours and weekend parking hours, which was intended to "sunset" after October 31, 1998. This ordinance is paired with another ordinance, file number 980619, which lists specific parking locations, which would reestablish uniform hours on a permanent basis.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 101-23-4 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
101-23. Erection of Parking Signs.
4. RESTRICTED PARKING:
a. Fifteen minute parking b. Half hour parking c. One hour parking d. Two hour parking e. Three hour parking f. Four hour parking g. Five hour parking h. Ten hour parking I. Twelve hour parking j. Twenty-four hour parking k. Parking for the physically disabled.
Part 2. Section 101-23-11 of the code is repealed.
(Note: the provisions being repealed read as follows:
101-23. Erection of Parking Signs.
11. CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT: PARKING TIME LIMITATIONS. Parking time limitations are established between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, in the area bounded by Highway 145 on the north, Highway 794 on the south, Highway 43 on the west and Lake Michigan on the east. Parking time limitations for streets within the described area remain unchanged from current code limitations, but shall be in effect only between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Part 3. Section 101-32-7 of the code is repealed.
