Title
Substitute resolution approving an amendment to the design guidelines for the Historic Third Ward District.
Analysis
This resolution amends the Historic Third Ward District design guidelines to allow the façade of a building located outside the Historic Third Ward historic district but within Business Improvement District Number 2 to have a height not exceeding the zoning district height limit or 85 feet, whichever is less, rather than the current limit of 70 feet. The maximum number of stories (7) does not change.
Body
Whereas, Section 308-71 of the Code of Ordinances provides for review, by the Architectural Review Board, of all applications for new construction and exterior modifications to buildings, structures and sites located in Business Improvement District Number 2 (Historic Third Ward) prior to issuance of permits by the Department of City Development; and

Whereas, Section 308-71 further provides that the Architectural Review Board, in conducting such review, shall use design guidelines adopted by the Common Council; and

Whereas, On September 25, 1990, the Common Council adopted File Number 881344, a resolution approving design guidelines to be used by the Architectural Review Board; and

Whereas, Section 308-71 also requires Common Council approval of amendments to the design guidelines; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the text of the adopted design guidelines for the Historic Third Ward District is amended as follows:
