This resolution appropriates $59,015 from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the Municipal Court for additional salaries, case jackets and postage. The appropriation is for costs incurred due to a significant increase in the caseload of Municipal Court.
BODY:
Whereas, A significant increase in the number and complexity of cases that are filed and adjudicated in Municipal Court has greatly increased the Municipal Court workload; and
Whereas, Although Municipal Court was budgeted for 130,000 cases in the 1997 budget, the Court anticipates handling 170,000 cases; and
Whereas, Additional funds are necessary to pay for the additional Municipal Court personnel, case jackets and postage that are required to handle the increased workload; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers are authorized and directed to transfer $59,015 from the Common Council Contingent Fund (Account No. 09-910-8000) to the following Municipal Court Accounts: $20,015 to Municipal Court Account No. 01-132-6000 for salaries, $19,000 to Municipal Court Account No. 01-132-6101-774 for case jackets and $20,000 to Municipal Court Account No. 01-132-6320-774 for postage.
