Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute agreements with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) for the exchange of jurisdiction of two signalized intersections adjacent to IH 43/94 in the City of Milwaukee. WisDOT is requesting ownership, operation, and maintenance responsibilities for the two signalized intersections along with relevant lighting, signage, and markings near the ramps of IH 43/94 for the purpose of controlling the flow of traffic in coordination with their Highway Improvement Program project.
Body
Whereas, Sections 84.29 and 84.295 of the Wisconsin Statutes grants specific authority to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) wherein by summary order it can reassign jurisdictional authority and maintenance responsibility as part of certain improvements related to interstate highways, freeways, and expressways; and
Whereas, WisDOT has requested the transfer of jurisdiction and maintenance responsibility for two signalized intersections from the City of Milwaukee to WisDOT along the IH 43/94 corridor; and,
Whereas, The two signalized intersections that have been requested for transfer from the City of Milwaukee to WisDOT are the intersection of West Becher Street, South 5th Street, and the IH 43/94 southbound ramps, and the intersection of West Becher Street, South 4th Street, and the IH 43/94 northbound ramps; and
Whereas; The jurisdiction of the two signalized intersections would be transferred from the City of Milwaukee to WisDOT upon completion of a staged paving and construction project that is scheduled for 2025-2026; now, therefore, be it
