Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the City Engineer to petition the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads for a Finding of Fact and Order for a new at-grade railroad crossing to be established by the proposed extension of West Pittsburgh Avenue extending over existing spur tracks, to be located south of West Canal Street, approximately 1,300 feet west of South 16th Street.
Body
Whereas, West Pittsburgh Avenue is proposed to be extended west and north in the Menomonee Valley to increase accessibility and improve the roadway configuration of the area; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File No. 000591, adopted on September 22, 2000, approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Milwaukee and the Forest County Potowatomi Indian Tribe (FCPIT) whereby the FCPIT will assume all costs for construction of West Pittsburgh Avenue (extended); and

Whereas, A new at-grade railroad crossing will be established when the new roadway extends over existing railroad spur tracks located in the area; and

Whereas, Approval from the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads of the State of Wisconsin (OCR) for authority to establish a new at-grade crossing across West Pittsburgh Avenue is necessary; now, therefore, be it
