Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an excavation permit allowing Ameritech to install underground telephone line in the intersection of South 46th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue and South 48th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue where the pavement is less than three years old.

Body
Whereas, Ameritech plans to install new telephone cable in the area of South 46th to South 48th Streets and West Oklahoma Avenue; and

Whereas, This work will require reconstruction of existing manholes in the intersection of South 46th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue and the intersection of South 48th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue; and

Whereas, The planned manhole reconstruction and cable installation will require cutting into the pavement of West Oklahoma Avenue, said pavement being less than three years old and under warranty; and

Whereas, The three year warranty on West Oklahoma Avenue expires in November of 2001; and

Whereas, Waiting until November to begin the project means that the work would not be completed before winter thereby postponing paving of the open cut areas until spring of 2002; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue an excavation permit allowing a cut in pavement in the intersections of South 46th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue and South 48th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the pavement restoration shall be accomplished in accordance with the specifications ...
