Analysis
This motion approves the renewal of a charter school contract with Downtown Montessori Academy for another 5-year term beginning with the 2023-2024 school year and ending with the 2027-2028 school year, as recommended by the Charter School Review Committee.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, acting by its Common Council, is authorized under s. 118.40 (2r), Wis. Stats., to establish and monitor the operation of charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council has empowered the Charter School Review Committee to make recommendations to the Council regarding charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 980349, adopted on July 24, 1998, entered into a charter school contract with Downtown Montessori Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 1998-1999 school year and ending with the 2003-2004 school year; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 021366, adopted on January 22, 2003, renewed a charter school contract with Downtown Montessori Academy a 5-year term commencing with the 2003-2004 school year and ending with the 2007-2008 school year; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 071155, adopted on February 26, 2008, entered into a charter school contract with Downtown Montessori Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 2008-2009 school year and ending with the 2012-2013 school year; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 120821, adopted on November 27, 2012, entered into a charter school contract with Downtown Montessori Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 2013-2014 school year and ending with the 2017-2018 school year; and
