Title

Analysis
This resolution expresses the Common Council's support for General Mitchell International Airport's request for additional funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for its Noise Compatibility Program.
Body
Whereas, In response to aircraft noise impact in the neighboring communities, General Mitchell International Airport (GMIA) launched a Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP), Noise Compatibility Program (NCP) in 1993; and
 
Whereas, The RSIP provided noise mitigation improvements, which included acoustical doors and windows, attic insulation, and in some cases air conditioning, to approximately 1,700 homes situated near the airport; and
 
Whereas, At that time, GMIA applied for and was granted FAA Airport Improvement Program funding eligibility for the RSIP, which has satisfied more than 95% of the homeowners participating in the program; and
 
Whereas, By "squaring off" the blocks of homes that were included in the original RSIP, an additional approximately 432 homes could be added to the program; and
 
Whereas, GMIA has requested the Federal Aviation Administration for Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding eligibility for the additional homes; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council expresses its support for General Mitchell International Airport's request for such AIP funding eligibility for the Airport's Residential Sound Insulation Program.
