This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant project from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation in the amount of $182,735.10 with a city share of $75,087 and a grantor share of $107,648.10. The grantor will also donate computer equipment and internet access services valued at $9,082 to the Milwaukee Police Department as part of this grant. The purpose of the project is to establish a multi-agency, interdisciplinary task force to investigate and prosecute internet crimes against children. No position authority is contingent on the grant.

BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, for an Internet Crimes Against Children Grant; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from October 1,1998 to September 30,1999 would cost $182,735.10 of which $75,087(41%) would be provided by the city and $107,648.10(59%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Justice is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81 of the Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 1999 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project fund titled Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant :
