Title

An ordinance relating to the license period for a bicycle license, and refund of a portion of an extended hours establishment license fee.

Analysis

This ordinance:

 

1.  Establishes that a bicycle license shall be valid for the life of the bicycle for which the license is issued or for the time the owner owns the bicycle.  Currently, a bicycle license is issued for a 4-year period.

 

2.  Changes from $50 to $150 the portion of the license fee that will be returned to an applicant for an extended hours establishment if the applicant is not granted a license.  The fee for an extended hours license is $200.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Section 81-10-1 of the code is repealed and recreated to read:

 

81-10. Bicycle License.

1.  Each license shall be valid for the life of the bicycle for which the license is issued or for the time the owner owns the bicycle.

 

Part 2.  Section 81-51-3 of the code is amended to read:

 

81-51. Extended Hours Establishments.

3.  If an applicant is not granted a license, a portion of the license fee shall be returned to the applicant in the amount of [[$50]] >>$150<< upon the surrender of the deposit receipt certified by the city clerk, provided that the certified deposit receipt is surrendered no later than one year after the date of license denial.
