- Analysis -

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install the necessary traffic control facilities in conjunction with Federal/State Aid highway improvements as per a cost participating agreement with the State Department of Transportation.


BODY:
Whereas, The Surface Transportation Program includes appropriations for traffic control improvements along with the paving of highways located on the Federal/State Aid Highway System; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 940190, adopted June 7, 1994 authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement for programming and construction of the improvement of S. 13th Street from W. Howard Avenue to W. Oklahoma Avenue with Federal/State Aid under the Surface Transportation Program; and

Whereas, The total estimated cost of this project is $22,000 for the alteration of traffic control signals and relocation and upgrading of traffic control signs; and

Whereas, Twenty percent of the participating costs or $4,400 is non-reimbursable and is included in the Division's 1997 Capital Purpose Account #32-550-0001; and

Whereas, Eighty percent of the participating project cost or $17,600 is reimbursable from the State Department of Transportation and this amount is not included in Division accounts, and should be earmarked for this project in the 1997 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund #32-010-0000; now, therefore, be it
