This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to conduct a trial period of deactivation of the traffic signal at W. Hopkins and N. 24th Streets.
BODY:
Whereas, Traffic signal operation at this location is no longer warranted on the basis of traffic volumes either vehicle or pedestrian; and
 
Whereas, Unnecessary traffic signal operation results in needless energy waste and expense to taxpayers, and delay to motorists and pedestrians; and
 
Whereas, The Infrastructure Services Division recommends a trial period of shutdown, during which time "Stop" signs are to be posted for N. 24th Street traffic; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to conduct a trial period of deactivation, during which time the traffic signals at W. Hopkins and N. 24th Streets are to be shut off and covered, the cost, therefore, to be charged to the proper Operation and Maintenance account of the Infrastructure Services Division.
