This ordinance codifies existing health benefits for city retirees.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 350-30-1-f of the code is amended to read:
350-30. Health Benefits.
1. DEFINITIONS.
f. “Retiree” means a person receiving a service retirement allowance pursuant to s. 36-05-1 of the charter who has [[also]] either worked at least 40 hours per week for at least 30 years and is at least 55 years of age, or has worked at least 40 hours per week for a least 15 years and is at least 60 years of age, >>is enrolled in a city health benefit plan or Medicare supplement health plan as of January 1, 2013, is receiving an ordinary disability allowance under s. 36-05-2,<< or is receiving a duty disability retirement allowance under s. 36-05-3.
Part 2. Section 350-30-3-a-6 of the code is created to read:
a-6. Persons who have involuntarily separated from the city who are receiving an early retirement allowance under s. 36-05-6-b-3.
Part 3. Section 350-30-3-a-7 to 9 of the code is created to read:
a-7. Surviving spouses of retirees who die while enrolled in a city health care plan.
a-8. Surviving spouses receiving an ordinary death allowance under s. 36-05-10.
a-9. Surviving spouses receiving an accidental death allowance under s. 36-05-5.
Part 4. Section 350-30-4 of the code is amended to read:
4. ONE-FAMILY RULE. An employee or retiree who is married to or is a registered domestic partner of another employee or retiree shall enroll in one plan with dependent coverage effective the first of the month following marriage >>or domestic partnership registration<<.
