This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to apply for, accept and fund a Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot Grant project from the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $745,000 with a City Share of $545,000 and a Grantor Share of $200,000. The City Share of $545,000 will come from in-kind city costs as well as from various other funding sources. The purpose of the project is to find an approach to redeveloping Milwaukee's Menomonee Valley; developing an aqua-shed framework for groundwater regulatory and remediation alternatives.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") appears to be eligible for grant funds from the United States Environmental Protection Agency for a Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this Grant project from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the City will cost $745,000 of which $545,000 (73 percent) will be provided by the City and $200,000 (27 percent) will be provided by the Grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that application to the United States Environmental Protection Agency is authorized and that the City shall accept this Grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File No. 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Encumber in the parent accounts of the 1998 Special Revenue Accounts - Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled "Brownfields Assessment Demonstration Pilot":
