This resolution satisfies the statutory requirements of Subsection 66.431(6)(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes regarding the prohibition of new construction in a Redevelopment Project Area by the Common Council after a Redevelopment Plan has been certified by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee. Adoption of this resolution pursuant to this Subsection of Wisconsin Law is mandatory, not elective.
BODY:
Whereas, On November 27, 1990, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee ("Common Council") adopted File No. 901242, which authorized and directed the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee to prepare a Redevelopment Plan for the area bounded generally by North 26th Street, West Wisconsin Avenue, North 28th Street and West Michigan Street, pursuant to the applicable provisions of Section 66.431, Wisconsin Statutes; and

Whereas, On March 20, 1998, the Common Council adopted File No. 971783 approving a Redevelopment Plan for the area bounded by North 26th Street, West Wisconsin Avenue, North 28th Street and West Michigan Street identified as the North 27th Street/West Wisconsin Avenue Redevelopment Project, dated February 26, 1998; and

Whereas, On April 7, 1998, in a communication related to File No. 971783 and to this File, a true and correct copy of the above-identified Redevelopment Plan was certified to the Common Council pursuant to Subsection 66.431(6)(e), Wisconsin Statutes, as amended, with a request that all new construction within the Project Area not consistent and/or in conformance with the Redevelopment Plan be permanently prohibited as mandated by said Section; now, therefore, be it
