ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply for, accept and fund a community based Arson Awareness and Prevention Coalition grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Grant funds will be used to develop and implement an arson prevention public education campaign.
BODY:
Whereas, Under the terms of the community based Arson Awareness and Prevention Coalition the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for arson prevention public education and;

Whereas, It would appear that City involvement in this grant and aid program, and more specifically in a grant and aid project involving additional financial support for arson prevention would result in the following major benefits to the City:

Development and implementation of an arson prevention public education campaign including billboard and other media advertisement and providing material that support arson prevention goals; and

Whereas, The Department of Administration, Division of Intergovernmental Relations, has determined that operation of this grant project from the date of the grant award to December 31, 1999 would cost approximately $23,249 of which $15,000 or 65% would be provided by the Grantor; and

Whereas, The non match local share of this grant project $8,249 or 35% can be provided from the following sources:

In Kind Share $8,249
Out-of-Pocket City Share -0-
Local, Non City Share -0-
