Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of an Operation Ceasefire Program Grant (Police Department).
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund an Operation Ceasefire Program Grant from the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, in the amount of $132,381 with a city share of $54,381 and a grantor share of $78,000. The purpose of the project is to achieve maximum coordination and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to identify, investigate and prosecute felons in possession of firearms, and those individuals, organizations, and sources of firearms who knowingly and willingly facilitate the unlawful acquisition of firearms.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for an Operation Ceasefire Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/01/2000 to 9/30/2000 would cost $132,381 of which $54,381 (41%) would be provided by the city and $78,000 (59%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is authorized and that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common council file 940843; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2000 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: "Operation Ceasefire Grant":
