Title:
Resolution authorizing the construction of a transformer enclosure at 1322 West Layton Avenue and 2105 West Van Norman Avenue, to reroute existing street lightning circuits and the removal of the transformer enclosure at 1322 West Layton Avenue, in conjunction with Mitchell Interchange reconstruction.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install a transformer enclosure at 1322 West Layton Avenue and 2105 West Van Norman Avenue, to reroute existing street lighting circuits and the removal of the transformer enclosure at 1322 West Layton Avenue, in conjunction with reconstruction of Mitchell Interchange. Funding for the construction of the transformer enclosures is to be provided entirely by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation as part of the interchange project, total estimated cost is $210,000.00 of which 100% is State funded.
Body:
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reconstructing the Mitchell Interchange of IH 94, USH 41, IH 43, and IH 894 under the State Highway Improvement Program; and
Whereas The proposed interchange reconstruction project will isolate the street lighting circuitry in neighborhoods north of the freeway from their energy source south of the freeway; and
Whereas The proposed transformer enclosures will supply energy to the street lighting circuitry in the neighborhoods isolated by the interchange reconstruction, to keep the street lights operational during the duration of the reconstruction of the Mitchell Interchange; and
Whereas The transformer enclosure at 2105 West Van Norman Avenue may remain in service to more efficiently handle the changes in circuitry loading due to the reconstruction of the Mitchell interchange; and
Whereas, The Interchange reconstruction project provides cost participation for City of Milwaukee street lighting system improvements required due to this construction; a...
