Title

Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Public Works - Operations and the Department of Neighborhood Services to collaborate on establishing a special pick-up service for residents who report illegal dumping. The Department of Public Works shall report on the status of this service to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.

 

Body

Whereas, The 2021 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 200001 on November 24, 2020; and

 

Whereas, Amendment 36 to the 2021 Budget placed a footnote in the Budget stating, “The Department of Public Works - Operations and the Department of Neighborhood Services shall collaborate on establishing a special pick-up service for residents who report illegal dumping”; and

 

Whereas, Illegal dumping is a blight on Milwaukee neighborhoods; and

 

Whereas, Residents may be wrongfully charged for bulky item pickup when illegal dumping occurs on their property; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works - Operations Division and the Department of Neighborhood Services shall collaborate on establishing a special pick-up service for residents who report illegal dumping; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works shall report on the status of this service to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.
