Analysis

This resolution appropriates $20,000 from the Economic Development Committee fund to underwrite the development costs for a proposed 24-unit affordable housing development in the Harambee Ombudsman area.  This project is being undertaken by the Inner City Redevelopment Corporation.

Body

Whereas, The Inner City Redevelopment Corporation (ICRC), a non-profit community organization with 23 years' experience improving the lives of residents on the near north side of Milwaukee, has proposed the construction of a 24-unit affordable housing development in the Harambee Ombudsman area; and

Whereas, This project, to be built in an area bounded by East Keefe Avenue, East Locust Street, North First Street and North 7^th Street, would be put up in an area with more than 150 vacant parcels of land and would provide much-needed affordable housing for residents who want to remain in the Harambee community; and

Whereas, It is in the best interests of the City support projects of this type; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $20,000 is appropriated from the Economic Development Committee Fund (Account Number 0001-1310- S123-006300) for the purpose of underwriting the development costs of the 24-unit housing project proposed by the Inner City Redevelopment Corporation.
