Title
Resolution relating to the application and acceptance of an outdoor recreation grant for Century City Triangle Neighborhood Park, from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Local Assistance Program.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to apply for and accept a State of Wisconsin outdoor recreation grant to make improvements to Century City Triangle Neighborhood Park, located at 2900 West Hopkins Street.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee may be eligible to apply for outdoor recreation grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for improvements to Century City Triangle Neighborhood Park, located at 2900 West Hopkins Street; and

Whereas, This grant may result in benefits to the City which include:

1. Increasing the quantity and quality of play among local residents of all ages and abilities.

2. Creating a space that reflects neighborhood needs, interests, and characteristics.

3. Strengthening relationships between community residents and institutional stakeholders.

4. Promoting positive neighborhood development.

5. Building on community identity as an eco-friendly, sustainable community.

6. Developing the park space as a hub for community gathering and programming.

Whereas, This grant funded project would cost $1,500,000, of which $231,270 would be provided by the grantor; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has secured grant funding of $350,000 from the Burke Foundation, and $165,000 from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and $105,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has budgeted and will make expenditures that are eligible and appropriate as the local match; now, therefore, be it
