Analysis
This resolution directs the Commissioner of City Development to work with the Department of Public Works, and other City agencies and departments as needed, to conduct a space needs study for the Fire and Police Commission and to provide a report on this matter to the Common Council. The Commissioner is further directed to report all findings to the Common Council by January 30, 2018.
Body
Whereas, The mission of the Department of City Development is to improve the quality of life in Milwaukee by guiding and promoting development that creates jobs, builds wealth and strengthens the urban environment, and at the same time respects equity, economy and ecology; and
Whereas, Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission has grown in staff due to the increase in citizen complaints; and
Whereas, 2018 Budget Amendment 60A, which adds a budget footnote directing the Department of City Development to conduct a space needs study for the Fire and Police Commission, was passed unanimously by the Common Council on November 10, 2017; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, That the Commissioner of City Development is directed to work with the Department of Public Works, and other City agencies and departments as needed, to conduct a space needs study for the Fire and Police Commission; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner shall present the findings of the space need study to the Common Council prior to January 30, 2018.
