Title
Substitute resolution relating to the appropriation of $100,000 from the funds available to the Milwaukee Promise initiative for community development activities.

Analysis
This resolution approves the appropriation of $100,000 from the funds available to the Milwaukee Promise initiative for community development activities as follows:

1. $75,000 to the Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin.

2. $25,000 to the 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corporation for efforts in the Garden Homes Park neighborhood

Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Promise is a multifaceted city effort to address systemic poverty, joblessness, poor health, crime and low educational achievement in city neighborhoods; and

Whereas, The Common Council desires to support and encourage the development of comprehensive, place-based and data-driven initiatives to transform neighborhoods struggling with issues such as poverty, poor health, low educational achievement and high crime; and

Whereas, The Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, Inc., is a group of local organizations and individuals whose collaborative goal is to address the health problems of African Americans; and

Whereas, The 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corporation (the "Corridor") is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring and retaining economic vitality in Milwaukee's 30th Street Corridor by promoting the shared interests of residents and companies and by stimulating economic growth in the community; and

Whereas, The Corridor manages both the 30th Street Corridor project as well as Business Improvement District (BID) #37, in the same area, in its efforts in relation to the Garden Homes Park neighborhood; now, therefore be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the appropriation of $100,000 from the funds available to the Milwaukee Promise initiative as follows:
