Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works (DPW), Infrastructure Services Division, to accept a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Green Solutions grant funding for the construction of bioswale bumpouts with a maximum reimbursement amount of $290,150. The project will be installed near pedestrian crosswalks in East Montana Street between South Quincy Avenue and South Howell Avenue. The resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a post installation Maintenance Covenant with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is responsible for collecting and treating wastewater from local sewerage systems; and
Whereas, Green infrastructure reduces the volume of stormwater in the sewer system and the amount of pollutants discharged to surface waters; and
Whereas, The City proposes bioswale bumpouts near pedestrian crosswalks in East Montana Street between South Quincy Avenue and South Howell Avenue; and
Whereas, The bioswales project provides water quality benefit in compliance with the City’s stormwater discharge permit with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR);
Whereas, MMSD desires to promote the installation of green infrastructure practices such as bioswales and is willing to provide the City funding as part of its Green Solutions Program; and
