Analysis
This resolution appropriates $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund for the purchase of digital still photography cameras for quality of life purposes including crime prevention, building code violations, nuisance activities and sanitation. Use of the cameras will be coordinated by the Citywide Block Watch Council.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee wishes to empower residents and business owners to monitor conditions within the community for the purposes of improving quality of life; and
Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund funds activities related to economic development, including but not limited to commercial development, business attraction and retention, and these activities include strengthening community quality of life conditions; and
Whereas, The use of digital still photography would aid citizens and business owners in monitoring community conditions including crime prevention, building code violations, nuisance activities and sanitation; and
Whereas, The Citywide Block Watch Council provides crime prevention information, coordinates the activities of district block watch councils, provides assistance to neighborhood block watches, and maintains communication and collaboration among members of the Common Council and law enforcement throughout the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $5,000 be appropriated from the Economic Development Committee Fund to the Havenswoods Economic Development Corporation for the purchase of approximately 50 digital still photography cameras that will be used by residents and business owners participating in the Citywide Block Watch Council; and, be it
