Title
Resolution relating to the creation of a Bronzeville Safety and Traffic Task Force.
Analysis
The resolution creates a Bronzeville Safety and Traffic Task Force. The Task Force is charged with reviewing traffic and other safety concerns in the area bounded by W. North Ave., W. Walnut St., N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. and Interstate 43, known collectively as Bronzeville, and making recommendations for improvements to the Common Council.
The Taskforce shall consist of:
1. A representative of the Police Department, appointed by the Chief of Police.
2. The staff person in the Office of the Mayor responsible for the “Vision Zero” initiative, appointed by the Mayor.
3. The Director of Emergency Management and Communications or designee.
4. The Commissioner of the Department of City Development or designee.
5. The Commissioner of the Department of Public Works or designee.
6. A staff person in the Office of Violence Prevention, appointed by the Commissioner of Health.
7. 3 stakeholders from the Bronzeville area; one to be appointed by the by the Mayor, and 2, by the President of the Common Council.
8. 2 residents of the Bronzeville neighborhood, appointed by the Common Council member representing the 6th Aldermanic District.
In addition, the Task Force shall be staffed by the City Clerk’s Office. Finally, the Task Force shall present a report to the Common Council on its findings within 6 months of adoption of the resolution.

Whereas, The Bronzeville District is a City of Milwaukee redevelopment initiative inspired by Milwaukee’s original Bronzeville District of the early- to mid-1900’s; and
