Whereas, The Health Department and the Department of Administration have requested legal services related to the hiring of foreign nationals in specialty occupations which requires pre-approval from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service; and
Whereas, Knowledge and expertise in the area of immigration law and procedure is needed to analyze and process the hiring of foreign nationals in specialty occupations; and
Whereas, It would be in the City's best interest to retain outside counsel with specialized knowledge and practice in the area of immigration law and procedure and pay expenses related to those services; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the expenditure of up to $10,000.00 be authorized from the Outside Counsel/Expert Witness Fund Number 0001 1490 0001 S157 2001 006300 for the purpose of retaining outside counsel in the above-referenced matters; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Office of the City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to engage the services of outside counsel and pay other legal services rendered related to the above-referenced files.
