Substitute resolution relating to implementation of a provision of the 2006 Budget relating to development of recreational facilities in the vicinity of Bradley Technology and Trade High School.
Analysis
This resolution establishes the conditions and procedures for expenditure of $2 million in capital borrowing funds in the 2006 City Budget designated for site preparation related to development of recreational facilities for Bradley Technology and Trade High School. This project, which is a joint effort of the City, Milwaukee Public Schools and the Bradley Technology and Trade High School Commission, will include demolition of the former Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School and its replacement by new recreational facilities to serve the students of Bradley Tech. Site preparation, including building demolition, environmental assessments, asbestos abatement and grading and seeding, will be funded by the City and MPS, while the Bradley High School Commission will finance and provide the new recreational facilities.

Whereas, The construction of Bradley Technology and Trade High School (“Bradley Tech”) resulted in the loss of recreational space that had been available to students of the former Milwaukee Trade and Technical High School; and

Whereas, Milwaukee Public Schools (“MPS”) has identified significant transportation costs and logistical problems associated with the lack of adequate recreational facilities in the vicinity of Bradley Tech; and

Whereas, MPS, the City of Milwaukee and the Bradley Technology and Trade High School Commission have proposed a partnership to develop adequate recreational facilities to serve Bradley Tech; and
