- ANALYSIS - This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an excavation permit on pavement less than three years old.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, Milwaukee County incorporated a cathodic protection system in O'Donnell Park to protect sheet piling from deterioration due to rust; and
 
Whereas, It appears that this cathodic protection system may be transmitting stray electric current that is being picked up by the City's water main in adjacent North Prospect Avenue; and
 
Whereas, Such stray current has the potential to damage City facilities; and
 
Whereas, Milwaukee County proposes to install cathodic protection test stations in North Prospect Avenue to monitor the situation; and
 
Whereas, Installation will require several open cuts in the street pavement; and
 
Whereas, The open cuts will affect pavement that is less than three years old and subject to a pavement guarantee; and
 
Whereas, The test stations must be installed as soon as possible to insure protection of City water facilities; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue an excavation permit to allow the installation of cathodic protection test stations in guaranteed pavement on North Prospect Avenue; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the pavement restoration of the affected street shall be accomplished in accordance with the specifications and restrictions established by the Department of Public Works of the City of Milwaukee.
