This resolution authorizes the Police Department to accept donations from the Milwaukee Police Foundation.
Body
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation, and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the primary purpose of partnering with community organizations, City officials, and businesses to improve public safety in Milwaukee by providing technical, personnel, and other resources to the Milwaukee Police Department; and

Whereas, The foundation encourages resident and community involvement to make Milwaukee a safe city in which to live, work, and enjoy life; and

Whereas, All resources provided to the Milwaukee Police Department are subject to the approval of the Milwaukee Police Foundation’s Board of Directors; and

Whereas, It is in the City’s best interest to augment sources of revenue to widen the Police Department’s ability to improve public safety; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept funds and resources in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for any one donation and not to exceed $500,000 for any one year without prior Common Council approval; and, be it

Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds or resources, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the budget for the expenditure of such monies; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund - General, account number 0001-2110-D001-006300, an...
