Body
Whereas, On September 8, 2023, Common Council Communication File Number 203633 was heard by the Public Safety and Health Committee relating to the Police Department’s consensual, real-time use of privately-owned video surveillance cameras by police; and
Whereas, The Police Department’s Community Connect is a program designed to empower community members to come together to keep their neighborhood safe by:
1. Enabling public safety professionals to respond more efficiently.
2. Enhancing emergency preparedness.
3. Assisting in expediting investigations.
4. Helping keep the community secure while maintaining privacy.

Whereas, The program relies on registration and integration of community members’ cameras with the Police Department’s software; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Chief is urged to provide quarterly reports to the Common Council on the status of the Community Connect program.
