TITL:

Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for a Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant (Police Department).

BODY:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant Program through the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice - Office of Justice Assistance; and

 

Whereas, It is appropriate for the City of Milwaukee to apply for such grant funds in the amount of $819,828. This amount would be passed from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Programs, to the State; and

 

Whereas, The 10% required local match would be in-kind, from previously appropriated funds; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to apply for Juvenile Accountability Incentives Block Grant funding; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That acceptance and expenditure of these funds by the Milwaukee Police Department is not authorized herein and any such acceptance and expenditure shall require express Common Council approval by adoption of a separate resolution.
