Analysis

Common council file Number 050730, passed on May 9, 2006, effective May 26, 2006 increased the taxicab rate for the first 1/8^th mile or fraction of a mile from $1.75 to $2.75.  The file specified that the $2.75 rate would be null and void on and after November 26, 2006. The sunset provision was modified by common council file Number 060657, passed November 14, 2006,  extending the date of expiration to March 26, 2007.

This ordinance repeals the sunset provision. A new rate of $2.25 is established for the first 1/8^th mile.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Part 1 of file number 060657, an ordinance relating to taxicab meter rates, passed on November 14, 2006, is repealed.

(Note: The provision being repealed reads as follows: “This ordinance shall be null and void 10 months after passage and publication.”)

Part 2. Section 100-52-3-a-1 of the code is amended to read:

100-52. Rates Established.

3. METER FARE TAXICAB.

a-1. For the first 1/8 mile or fraction of a mile, for one or more persons, [[$2.75]]>>$2.25<<.
