Resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $350,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund for the Holton Street Commercial District Enhancement Project.
Analysis
This resolution approves the expenditure of $350,000 for the Holton Street Commercial District Enhancement Project. The project area is located on Holton Street from Reservoir to Center Street as well as designated intersections on Holton Street with Reservoir, North Avenue and Center Street. The enhancement project will include enhanced pedestrian lighting, installation of two directional bike lanes, crosswalk treatments and other commercial district identification enhancements.
Body
Whereas, The 2006 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee (“City”) contains $350,000 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund; and

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and

Whereas, The Holton Street Commercial District Enhancement Project will further sustain the revitalization of the commercial district; and

Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the Holton Street commercial corridor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to transfer $350,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund Project Account, STO4080000, to the Holton Street Commercial District Enhancement Project Account, STO4083900; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it
