THE CLERK swore in the the Court Reporter.
Recommendation of nonrenewal of the Class "B" Tavern license of Bertha L. Jewett for the premises at 2579 N. Holton Street ("B & J's Corner") in the 6th Ald. Dist. Written objections have been filed by the licensee.
Recommendation of renewal with a 10-day suspension of the Class "B" Tavern license of Maylon Richardson for the premises at 2025 W. Fond du Lac ("Golden Tere") in the 7th Ald. Dist. Written objections have not been filed by the licensee.
Recommendation of nonrenewal of the Class "B" Tavern and Tavern Dance license of Aundra McMurtry for the premises at 3300 S. 27th Street ("Andre's") in the 13th Ald. Dist. Written objections have been filed by the licensee.
Recommendation of renewal with a 10-day suspension of the Class "B" Tavern license of Smith Alex for the premises at 2001 N. 30th Street ("Alex's Tap") in the 17th Ald. Dist.. Written objections have not been filed by the licensee.
THE CHAIR questioned whether all members of the Common Council had read the report and recommendations by the Utilities and Licenses Committee.
Ayes: 16 - Ald. Pratt, D'Amato, Henningsen, Schramm, Johnson-Odom, Gordon, Frank, Richards, Butler, Witkowiak, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy, Hines and President Kalwitz.
Noes: 1. - Ald. Scherbert.
THE CHAIR questioned whether any of the applicants or their counsel was present and wished to address the Council.
Bertha L. Jewett and Attorney Jerry Konkel appeared and wished to address the Council.
ALD. BUTLER moved that the Common Council do now resolve itself into a Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing from the applicant's attorney and Assistant City Attorney.
PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
Attorney Jerry Konkel and Assistant City Attorney Thomas Beamish appeared and addressed the Committee relative to the foregoing matter.
Ald. Schramm moved that the Committee do now rise.
The motion prevailed.
Maylon Richardson appeared but did not address the Council.
Aundra McMurtry and Attorney David Bangor appeared and wished to address the Council.
ALD. WITKOWIAK moved that the Common Council do now resolve itself into a Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing from the applicant's attorney and Assistant City Attorney.
PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
Attorney David Bangor and Assistant City Attorney Thomas Beamish appeared and addressed the Committee. relative to the foregoing matter.
ALD. PRATT moved to renew with a 45-day suspension.
The motion failed by the following vote:
Ayes: 6 - Ald. Pratt, D'Amato, Henningsen, Gordon, Hines and President Kalwitz.
Noes: 10 - Ald. Schramm, Johnson-Odom, Frank, Richards, Butler, Witkowiak, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, and Murphy.
Excused: 1 - Ald. Scherbert.
ALD. GORDON moved to return the Class "B" Tavern and Tavern Dance License back to Committee.
The motion failed by the following vote:
Ayes: 7 - - Ald. Pratt, D'Amato, Henningsen, Gordon, Richards, Butler and Hines .
Noes: 9 - Ald. Schramm, Johnson-Odom, Frank, Witkowiak, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy and Kalwitz.
Excused: 1 - Ald. Scherbert.
Alex Smith did not appear.
ALD. GORDON moved for adoption of the foregoing Committee Report
Ayes: 16 - Ald. Pratt, D'Amato, Henningsen, Schramm, Johnson-Odom, Gordon, Frank, Richards, Butler, Witkowiak, Pawlinski, Breier, Nardelli, Murphy, Hines and President Kalwitz.
