Body
Whereas, Patricia Wright has filed a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee seeking damages as a result of an incident occurring on August 23, 1999; and
Whereas, Patricia Wright broke her ankle when a piece of curbing collapsed at 4747 North Green Bay Avenue. The curb had been constructed to be placed directly over a manhole cover, without any material securing it. Plaintiff sustained a broken ankle when the curb rolled out of place; and
Whereas, The claimant has agreed to settle the lawsuit in the amount of $9,000.00; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to pay this settlement; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and are hereby authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $9,000.00, payable to the order of Patricia Wright and her attorneys Dowling & Blumenfield, LLP, in full and final settlement of this claim, upon receipt of a release of claims, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claim Fund, Account No. 636506 001 1490 2631 S118-2003.
