Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Pubic Works to install fiber and provide network connectivity at the expense of and for the use and benefit of the Marquette University. This will provide Marquette University enhanced connectivity to Valley Fields and the east side of the campus.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee wishes to promote higher education and enhance educational resources in the community; and
Whereas, Marquette University has requested a connection between Marquette University and their “Valley Fields” recreational facility located in Menomonee Valley and their residence hall east of I-43; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns dark fiber and can provide network services in routes that would be beneficial to the extension and enhancement of Marquette University to further its mission; and
Whereas, It would be in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee to facilitate connectivity within the City for Marquette University; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to install dark fiber and to provide network connectivity at no cost to the City of Milwaukee in certain routes where capacity is available to at the expense of and for the use and benefit of the Marquette University. This will provide Marquette University enhanced connectivity to Valley Fields and the east side of the campus.
