Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of an Employ Milwaukee grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Department of Public Works Forestry Service to accept and fund an Employ Milwaukee grant for an Arborist Pre-Apprenticeship Program in the amount of $10,193 with a grantor of $10,193 and a city share of $0. The purpose of this grant is for the City of Milwaukee to implement an Arborist Pre-Apprenticeship Program in coordination with Milwaukee Community Service Corps, Inc.

Outcomes include: a) recruit 10 program participants from Milwaukee communities; b) achieve a 100% graduation and job placement rate within 6 months of graduation; c) complete program work in Milwaukee’s highest need communities; d) develop and refine the program’s Artificial Intelligence system; e) evaluate the program for broader implementation; f) Increased community awareness of opportunities within arborist apprenticeships; g) Increased interest in urban forestry careers.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from Employ Milwaukee (contingent on funding from the State of Wisconsin) and

Whereas, these efforts further the common councils’ codified implementation of Milwaukee Climate and Equity Plan and the Milwaukee Green Infrastructure Plan.

Whereas, the operation of this grant from 05/01/2025 to 04/30/2026 would cost $10,193 of which $10,193 (100%) would be provided by the grantor and $0 (0%) would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Department of Public Works Forestry Service shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
