ANLS:
- ANALYSIS - This resolution determines that the former City ward yard located at 1911 North Humboldt Avenue is no longer needed for City purposes and can be declared surplus. The resolution further authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to dispose of the property through a commercial real estate broker.


BODY:
Whereas, The vacant, former City ward yard located at 1911 North Humboldt Avenue is no longer needed for City use; and

Whereas, The proximity of this former ward yard to recent and proposed development occurring along the Milwaukee River and on the Lower East Side of the city suggests that market conditions may be right for private development; and

Whereas, The most expeditious method of selling this property would be through a private real estate broker; and

Whereas, The property is located in the Water and Kane Urban Renewal District; and

Whereas, The standards and controls incorporated into urban renewal districts will provide the City with leverage over the eventual design of new buildings on the site and their use; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee hereby determines that the former City ward yard located at 1911 North Humboldt Avenue is no longer needed for public use and may, therefore, be sold as surplus property; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to select a private real estate broker to market the property; and, be it

Further Resolved, That any eventual brokerage commission shall be paid out of the sales proceeds; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the eventual sale of the property shall be reviewed by the City Plan Commission and the City's Rede...
