Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of City Development to prepare a resolution which vacates said street in accordance with vacation proceedings under power granted to the City of Milwaukee by Section 66.297(1), Wisconsin Statutes, and Section 81-308-28, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances. This portion of street is no longer necessary since a new public North-South alley will be constructed adjacent to the Marquette University high school playfield.

Body

Whereas, It has been proposed by the Department of City Development that West Clybourn Street from the east side of North 39th Street easterly to its terminus, located South of West Michigan Street be vacated pursuant to the provisions of Section 66.297, Wisconsin Statutes; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee will be constructing a new North-South alley adjacent to the Marquette University high school playfield; and

Whereas, The proposed vacated street will no longer be necessary for access since a new public alley will be constructed; and

Whereas, The new public alley is one of the components of the overall plan to improve the Pigsville neighborhood area; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of City Development is directed to prepare a resolution to vacate said street in accordance with Section 81-308-28 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
