- Analysis -

At the request of Williams Steel & Supply Company, Inc. (Williams), the City of Milwaukee agreed to enter into agreements with Williams and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the purpose of securing a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) Grant to pay a portion of the cost of constructing a new railroad spur track to serve Williams' expanded plant at 999 East Armour Avenue. Williams has determined that it is in their best interest to proceed without the City's or WISDOT'S assistance. This resolution serves to void the agreements/easements which have been entered into, to date.


BODY:
Whereas, Resolution File Number 970479, adopted by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee on July 11, 1997, authorized the City of Milwaukee's participation, with Williams Steel & Supply Company, Incorporated and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) in a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) Grant project to construct an industrial railroad spur track to serve the expanded Williams Steel processing and distribution center located at 999 West Armour Avenue in the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, Resolution File Number 971511, adopted by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee on February 10, 1998, accepted an easement from Williams Steel in order to fulfill a requirement of the TEA Grant; and
