Title
Substitute resolution establishing a change fund for pay stations at various City-owned parking facilities.
Analysis
This resolution appropriates $36,000 from the 2004 Parking Fund to provide change for 6 new automated pay stations in City-owned parking structures.
Body
Whereas, The City's 2003 Adopted Budget included capital funding in the Parking Fund for the purchase of new revenue control equipment at City-owned parking structures; and
 
Whereas, The Department of Public Works is in the final stages of installing this new revenue control equipment, which includes 6 automated pay stations that allow parking structure users to pay fees when no cashier is present or to make payments using credit cards; and
 
Whereas, By reducing reliance on cashiers and allowing payments to be collected 24 hours per day, the automated pay stations have the potential to produce significant cost savings and revenue increases for the City; and
 
Whereas, The automated pay stations cannot be put into service until each machine is stocked with $6,000 in cash and coins to provide change for customer payments; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $36,000 is appropriated from the 2004 Parking Fund for establishment of a change fund for automated pay stations at various City-owned parking facilities; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to make the fund transfers and accounting changes necessary to implement this resolution.
