Substitute resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the funding of the installation and modifications of traffic control signals and signs in the area of North 13th Street to North Plankinton Avenue and West St. Paul Avenue to West Wells Street and adjoining streets in conjunction with Marquette Interchange reconstruction.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install and modify traffic signals and signs in the area bounded by North 13th Street to North Plankinton Avenue and West St. Paul Avenue to West Wells Street and adjoining streets in conjunction with the next stage of reconstruction of the Marquette Interchange known as the Core Contract. Funding for the construction of these improvements is to be provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation under the Federally funded State Highway Improvement Program as part of the interchange project.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) is reconstructing the Marquette Interchange of IH94, USH41, IH43, and IH794 under the State Highway Improvement Program; and

Whereas, The Interchange reconstruction project provides cost participation for the modifications for the traffic signals and traffic signs; and

Whereas, The total estimated cost of modifications of the traffic signals and traffic signs included as part of this project is $352,294.21; and

Whereas, One hundred percent of the participating cost is reimbursable from WISDOT, and should be earmarked for this project in the 2004 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Account, Project/Grant Number SP032040100; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute a contract with WISDOT pertaining to...
