This resolution prohibits the Department of Administration (DOA) - Community Block Grant Administration office from expending the $125,000 appropriated for Safe Havens programs in the 1998 City budget until DOA has procured an additional $125,000 in private matching funds for the Safe Havens programs.
BODY:
Whereas, The Weed and Seed program has provided funds that allowed the City to establish and operate Safe Havens programs that provide after-school and weekend activities for families and youth; and
 
Whereas, Federal funding for the Weed and Seed program has been significantly reduced; and
 
Whereas, The 1998 City budget appropriates $125,000 for Safe Havens programs and the Common Council finds it appropriate for private matching funds to also fund the Safe Havens programs; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the $125,000 appropriation in the 1998 City budget for Safe Havens (No. 350.12-19) shall not be expended by the Department of Administration - Community Block Grant Administration office until that Department has procured an additional $125,000 in private matching funds for the Safe Havens programs.
