Resolution relating to the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
Analysis
This resolution condemns the kills of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to their deaths and urges the
Milwaukee Common Council to support the calls for full and transparent investigations.

The resolution further commends the youth of Milwaukee for their commitment to the cause of justice and urges them to continue their calls for justice through school walk-outs and other community actions.

Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Youth Council mourns the individuals who have been brutalized and killed by immigration enforcement officers across the United States, and sends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and neighbors of Renee Good and Alex Pretti; and

Whereas, Despite Renee Good and Alex Pretti acting lawfully and exercising their constitutional rights to speak out in defense of others, they were struck down by agents of the Border Patrol; and

Whereas, The murder of Alex Pretti, a Green Bay Preble High School alumnus, create concerns that the events of this past weekend are only the beginning of a larger, unfolding tragedy; and

Whereas, These incidents only serve to further the nation’s political divide, as the officials charged with protecting the public become warped by violence, eroding the public trust, and lending credence to the fear that the concerns of average citizens are not being recognized by our national leaders; and

Whereas, While there is safety in compliance, it is our duty to never surrender our First Amendment right to speak out against injustice; and


Whereas, The Milwaukee Youth Council remains committed to policies that prioritize public safety, dignity, and justice for all; now, therefore, be it
