This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit of the class action brought by Jack A. Schaefer and others.

BODY:
Whereas, The plaintiffs, Jack A. Schaefer and others, have commenced a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee Police Department and other officials of the City of Milwaukee, seeking an unspecified amount of damages; and
Whereas, The plaintiffs have agreed to settle their lawsuit on their own behalf and on behalf of the other members of the class of individuals whom they represent for payment of the amount of $75,000.00; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper city officers be and are hereby authorized and directed to issue a city check in the amount of $75,000.00, payable to the order of The Trust Account of Monogue & Witt, S.C., in full and final settlement of this lawsuit, upon receipt of a release of claim, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, said amount to be charged to the Damages & Claims Fund, Account No. 01-013-8001.
