Analysis
This ordinance prohibits city officials and other city employes from using their authority to either prevent or retaliate against any person who reports an alleged violation of the code of ethics.
 
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
 
Part 1.  Section 303-5-10 of the code is renumbered 303-5-11.
 
Part 2.  Section 303-5-10 of the code is created to read:
303-5.  Standards of Conduct.
10.  No official or other city employe shall use or threaten to use any official authority or influence to restrain or prevent any person from reporting or otherwise bringing to the attention of the board of ethics any information which, if true, would constitute a violation of this chapter.  No official or other city employe shall use or threaten to use any official authority or influence to effect any action as a reprisal against any person who reports or otherwise brings to the attention of the board of ethics any violation of this chapter.
